Day 18 and counting...
So I’m going to the mailbox every day, sometimes twice a day lately. For most people, this simply means cruising by the front door or at most the end of the driveway but for me, it’s a twenty-mile drive. And I usually go once, sometimes twice a week. So what’s got me going to town every day?
I’M WAITING FOR MY BOOKS TO ARRIVE!
I confess, I’m obsessed. But I’ve never seen a book with my name on it before, I want to hold it and inspect it and find a spot on my bookshelf for it. I want to take a picture of me holding it and send it to my family. In short, I want it.
But in the process of becoming a writer there are many lessons to be learned, and one is patience. Take a deep breath and relax. Obsessing doesn’t make anything come any faster. And so, I’m trying to regulate my breathing when I shove that little key into my mailbox, reminding myself that my books will arrive when they arrive and no sooner. Begging the mailman will NOT help.

Here’s hoping this is what I find in my mailbox today...
