13 DAYS AND COUNTING...
And Now for Something a Little Different...
I thought for something a little different I’d let my mom have the floor for the next few days of the countdown. She has been my partner on the publication journey and she’s one of my biggest supporters. I asked her to write a bit about what it’s been like for her, as a non-writer, seeing what goes into getting a book on store shelves.
I want to take this opportunity to say how wonderful it has been for me to be on this journey with Sara. From the first book she ever wrote (unpublished and I still have it) (***note from Sara: I don’t even have it anymore. It had better never been used as blackmail!) It has been my prayer that she would find joy and fulfillment in writing. One of the best days of my life was the phone call – ‘Mom, I’m going to be published. Moody has made me an offer, oh yeah, so has another publisher. I have to make a decision on who I’m going to go with.’ This is the dilemma Sara should always have.
It was such a great idea for us to work together on the marketing and publicity of Sara’s book. Arranging the book release for Miss Fortune at McNally Robinson Bookstore in Winnipeg was so much fun for me. Getting Sara’s aunt, her sister and some of my friends together to send out the invitations and book announcements was great. We ate sushi, addressed cards, and revelled in the sheer joy of helping Sara in any way that we could. We all want to see you do well Sara.
